Reinforcement of psychological competencies in Rwanda, 1st and 2nd training
In a three-step program, Rwandan psychologists, nurses and social workers are trained in the assessment and therapy of trauma spectrum disorders.
Please find information on the first training and the three-step training model here.
In November 2015 the first training concerning „Assessment of trauma-spectrum disorders and aggression“ was implemented successfully. The sessions concentrated on theoretical knowledge of trauma-spectrum disorders and aggression, as well as the assessment with standardized questionnaires. Further, topics like confidentiality and legal aspects, and ethical standards were included and participants discussed its application in specific situations.
The second training in Rwanda took place in December 2015. The participants were trained to handle psychological emergencies.
Aggression, suicidality and substance abuse often accompany trauma spectrum disorders and put psychological staff in difficult situations. In the second training, the participants learned how to react in urgent situations and how to prevent these situations in the long-term.
